Waiting Families
Bob & Becky
Someone once said . . . “Life is what happens while you are busy making plans.” That is one thing we have in common with you, neither of us probably ever thought we’d be making decisions like this in our lives, but at the same time, we cannot deny that there was another plan for us, something more than we first imagined. We are grateful and thankful you are choosing adoption for your child. We cannot begin to imagine the decision process you are going through, but we hope that you will find comfort and assurance in placing your child in a loving and happy home.
We are Becky and Bob and we thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We have been married since February 2005 and have always wanted to start a family. Adoption is not new to us; it is part of our everyday life. Bob was adopted when he was an infant. From the time he can remember, his parents spoke openly about his adoption and how much his birthmother loved him. He knows and understands she was unable to care for him at the time and chose adoption as the best option for the two of them. Your child will always know that you made this unselfish decision with the love only a mother can give.
About us...
We met about 10 years ago while working together in Pittsburgh and started dating in 2002. Today, we still work “together” although for a different company than before and at different locations; Becky is a Human Resource Manager and Bob is an Administrative Manager. Soon after we were married, we moved to Michigan (where Becky grew up) to be near one of our families as we tried to start a family of our own. After years of unsuccessful infertility treatments, adoption was a natural choice for us. We look forward to sharing our lives with a new baby. We love spending time together. We joined a bowling league three years ago and have a great time going with our friends, although you would think we would have improved by now, we haven’t! We also enjoy bike riding, walking, gardening, going to the movies, and working around our house.
About our family...
Bob is the older of two. His brother, Mark, was also adopted when he was about a year old; Bob vividly remembers the day Mark came to live with them; he was excited about his new baby brother. He remembers sitting on the ottoman when Mark first came in. Mark waddled (as only a one year old can do) over to him and gave him a hug. Mark now lives in Baltimore with his wife, Stephanie, and their three children: Jacob, Ella, and Nathan. We usually see them once or twice a year, although it is not as often as we’d like. Bob’s parents live in Erie, PA where he grew up. In fact, his mother has lived in the same house her entire life. Bob’s dad is retired and spends time tap dancing and dancing on roller-skates at age 70! Bob’s mom enjoys reading, knitting, and playing cards.
Becky is the youngest of three. Her sister, Stacy, lives in Maine and has already started sending us children’s books—one of her passions. Her sister, Amy, lives just two miles away, and we spend all kinds of time with her and her family. She and her husband, John, have three children: Travis, Emily, and Collin. Recently her teacher asked Emily what she liked about her family. She said, “Uncle Bob is funny and is always telling them silly stories and Aunt Becky is very nice and takes us to her church.” Becky’s mom lives nearby as well, and we see her quite often whether it’s for a full day of shopping or over to our house for dinner. We always have fun together. Becky’s dad lives up north on a lake. We try to visit him a couple times a year. You can usually find us enjoying a lazy day in his hammock together! Becky is also fortunate enough to have two living grandparents, her grandmother lives about 20 miles from us, making it easy to visit and spend holidays with. Becky’s grandfather lives in Florida. We try and visit him every year although he would love us there all the time.
About Bob... (Written by Becky)
Bob is the silliest, goofiest, most loving husband I could ever hope for. He makes me laugh every day and shows me he loves me with everything he does, whether it’s dancing with me to our favorite TV show’s theme song or making me a pineapple upside down cake “just because”. I could not ask for a better person to share my life with. I watch him with our nieces and nephews and cannot wait for him to be a father; he is so great with them. He has just the right amount of patience and humor to get through whatever they are doing together. He will be a wonderful dad.
About Becky... (Written by Bob)
I once asked Becky what she wanted in life; her response was “to be a mom”. Most people respond to that question with common answers such as a good career, dream home, exotic car or winning lottery numbers, but not her. She is selfless, kind, generous, and loving, all of the right stuff to be an amazing mother.
Our nieces and nephews adore her. Emily, one of our nieces, was asked once who her favorite person was. Much to the dismay of her parents and grandparents she answered, “Auntie Becky”! When I see her with them, it reinforces what I already know—that Becky will be a wonderful mother. I am lucky to have her as my best friend, wife, and companion for life.
Our promise to you...
We promise to provide your child with a loving and happy home filled with laughter and surrounded by wonderful family and friends. You will always have a place in our hearts, and your child will always know of your love and the sacrifice you made to make our family possible.
Thank you again for taking the time to consider our profile. We will keep you in our prayers as you make this difficult decision and wish you nothing but the best in life.
