Hello, we are Kara and Alan, and we are thrilled about becoming parents. We would like to take a few moments to thank you for reading through our profile. It is our goal to give you an insight into our lives, as to help you know us better. We believe that choosing an adoption plan is a selfless act and one of the toughest decisions you will ever make. We admire you greatly. We hope knowing us will make you confident that your child will be raised in a home with an abundance of love, patience, and compassion.
Alan and I have always hoped for children. It was one of the mutual desires that bonded us from the very beginning of our relationship. Not long after marrying, we tried to have children but soon learned that we were infertile. After learning about our infertility, we decided that the best way for our family to grow is through adoption. To prepare for our future child, we both discussed and decided I will be a stay at home mom. We feel that this proves to be an excellent foundation to grow and learn in love. Alan has a secure job that will allow our plans of raising a child at home to become a reality. It is because of birthmothers like you that our dream of having a baby can finally come true.
About Us
In 2002, we were working at the same company and were assigned to work together on a project. After many conversations, we found that we became great friends, which quickly blossomed into much more. Once it was clear this was a serious relationship, Kara transitioned jobs to be closer to Alan. After two years of dating, we were married in a ceremony surrounded by close family and friends. We both feel extremely lucky to have found each other, our soul mates. We currently have been married for more than four years and look forward to forty more.
About Kara (by Alan)
Kara is the sweetest, nicest person around. She is always looking to help someone or otherwise make their day just a little better. From the first words she spoke, there was something in her voice that just made me a little bit happier, so I know she is good at it. I enjoy spending every minute we can together as both husband and wife and as best friends.
Kara has wanted to be a mother from the time we met, and I know she will do an excellent job. She has a lot of practice with our nieces and nephews. She loves to play with them and create activities for them. All I hear when they are around is Auntie Kara this and Auntie Kara that. They love being around her just as much as I do. I can see it now; craft days, egg hunts, backyard campouts, nature walks, and many other things that I know she will come up with for our children and their cousins.
About Alan (by Kara)
Alan is the most wonderful, loving, and caring person I have ever met. He is extremely reliable and resourceful; he is always the first person that you can call on when you need help and the first person to volunteer when something needs to be done. Truthfully, I do not think that there is anything that he cannot accomplish. I am still in amazement that I have found such a wonderful friend and a partner. It is these reasons why Alan is my soul mate. I love him with all of my heart.
I know Alan will be a wonderful father. When our family visits he can often be found with our nieces or nephews. Whenever they visit, they are always in his arms or holding his hand while exploring the yard or “hunting” for one of our dogs.
What we enjoy
We really love each other’s company. We are more than just spouses; we are best friends. Chances are if you see one of us, you will see the other nearby. Travelling is the biggest hobby we do together. We always take a trip each year on our anniversary. Some other things that we like to do together are watch movies, bike ride, swim, nature walks, and babysitting our nieces and nephews.
We both keep our own hobbies. Kara loves to scrapbook, go to the gym, and create craft projects. Alan is passionate about cars—particularly muscle cars from the 50’s and 60's.
Our home
We have a newly constructed, spacious and beautiful four-bedroom home located in a rural community. We share our home with three loving and gentle dogs. We have several acres of land that are wooded and full of wildlife such as deer, frogs, and rabbits. In the summer we frequently host BBQs on our deck, take nature walks, and enjoy campfires. In the winter, we have a small hill that our nieces and nephews love to sled on with us. We love our home and know it will be a wonderful and safe place to raise our children.
Extended family
Alan’s parents have been married for 39 years. Alan was raised in a family in which marriage is a lifetime commitment. It is because of this that we have a very tight knit and large extended family. Alan’s family lives close, which makes for frequent family gatherings. Kara’s side of the family is blessed to have grandparents who just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Unlike Alan’s family, Kara’s family is widely dispersed all over the world. Kara talks to her family almost every day, and we like to spend at least one of the major holidays in Florida with Kara’s family. Both families are looking forward to having another addition to the family.
Our Promise
We promise to love and cherish the baby we raise with all of our hearts. We will teach our child to dream, to think, and especially to love. It is our goal that we do everything we can to help our child reach their fullest potential in life. We will be open with the baby about adoption and how your choice was a hard one only made out of love.
