We cannot put into words how grateful we are to you for taking the time to learn about us as part of your adoption plan. While all of us have come to this place in our lives by different paths and for different reasons, we all have the opportunity to change each one of our lives for the better.
We truly praise you for your selfless, courageous, and loving act that you are performing. You represent what is truly great about us as human beings, and we only can hope that you will see all that we have to offer a child.
Our Story
We are high school sweethearts and have known each other for seventeen years and have been married for seven. While our relationship started as “young love”, it became clear after a few years that it was so much more. Jill was pursuing her dream of becoming a physical therapist, and Carlos was making a name for himself in the carpentry and construction field. We decided to wait until Jill finished her master’s program in physical therapy before we were engaged. We were married the following year. That year provided us with a lot of new adventures as we bought our house, which we gradually remodeled, and adopted our wonderful dog, a husky named Oscar.
We always knew we wanted a family, as our families have been a huge part of our lives. Carlos is the youngest of six and the only boy. Jill is the middle child of three and the only girl. After spending five years on the difficult roller coaster ride of infertility and miscarriages, we came to the conclusion that there must be another plan for us. It has taken some time to re-evaluate and accept things. We realized that going through all of this has paved the way for us to do what we were meant to do, which is to adopt.
A Little About Us
We are both devoted to our families, and at this point, we are the proud aunt and uncle to fourteen nieces/nephews and one great niece. We enjoy spending time with our nieces and nephews. Jill is always taking them to see plays, movies, and outdoor activities like biking and picnics. Carlos helps them by giving them tips on how to fix things and pointers for all their sporting activities. We routinely go to their sporting and school functions and watch them to give our brothers and sisters a night out. To be honest, we probably have more fun than the kids do. Jill is always doing some type of crafts and games with them, and Carlos is playing video games and wrestling around with them. We also enjoy the companionship of our friends, whether it is for a barbecue in the summer or to watch the “big games”. We enjoy traveling, participating in an active lifestyle of running and working out, and other activities like cooking.
We are truly each other’s best friend and balance each other out. Carlos is fun loving, social, free-spirited, and more of a risk-taker whereas Jill tends to be more levelheaded, organized, and analytical. Jill is one who never likes to sit still and is always active whereas Carlos likes to relax at home. Jill plays soccer weekly on a women’s league, works out regularly, and belongs to a book club which meets every six weeks. Carlos is also a busy outdoorsman; he fishes, plays golf, and enjoys woodworking and fixing up things. However, even with these differences, we both have the same fundamentals and philosophies of hard work, generosity, loyalty, and helping others, which allows us to lead a balanced and happy life.
Our Home
We have recently bought a new home in a fantastic neighborhood with excellent school systems. It is a family friendly neighborhood that does yearly events together consisting of block parties, Easter egg hunts, Halloween parties, and Christmas caroling. We are within one mile of a bike and running path and are within five minutes or a bike ride of two state parks consisting of lakes, bike trails, golf course, and a petting zoo.
